Missionaries wherever we are

Missionaries wherever we are

Scripture teaches us that we can be a witness to Christ no matter where we are.

This is true regardless of where we live or what our occupation is. We encounter many people in our day-to-day lives who do not have a relationship with Christ.

We have the opportunity to be missionaries wherever we are.

How do we do this? The most important way is to model Christlike behavior.

Paul says, “Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ” (Philippians 1:17a NIV).

When we are honest in our dealings, thankful for our riches, joyful in our manner and content in our circumstances, we are the ultimate witnesses for Christ.

We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God.” – 2 Corinthians 5:20 (NIV)

If someone is a follower of Christ, his or her conduct is a potent witness.

People have rejected Christ because they have encountered self-professed Christians who have been selfish, greedy or dishonest in their dealings, or had a poor attitude.

Conversely, there are those who have been brought to Christ because of the examples of others’ lives.

A man worked at a fast-food restaurant at a young age, where he met a co-worker with an exceedingly rosy disposition.

When asked why she was so cheerful all the time, the co-worker responded, “Because I have Jesus in my life!”

This statement affected the young man so greatly that he went on to become a pastor.

You never know when or how you may impact people’s lives for Christ. But it can happen anywhere, at any time.

Every encounter you have with another is a chance to witness for Jesus.

We are all missionaries — wherever we are.
